Alachua Astronomy Club: Weil Hall

The Amateur Telescope-Making (ATM) Group of the Alachua Astronomy Club will hold its meetings, beginning July 2006, in Room 100 of Weil Hall, on the University of Florida Campus in Gainesville (see Map #1 below). Weil Hall, opened in 1950, is home to UF's Departments of Coastal and Civil Engineering and Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Weil Hall is located on the southeast corner of Stadium Road and Gayle Lemerand (formerly North-South) Drive on the University of Florida Campus (see Map #2 below). The building is set back from Lemerand Drive. If you need to unload equipment, you may pull up to the rear entrance of Weil Hall, but may need to move your vehicle to a proper parking area afterward. The closest parking area is the O'Connell center parking lot (see Map #2 below).

The ATM group will meet in Room 100) in the basement of Weil Hall. Directions and maps follow.

Finding the rear entrance to Weil Hall (See Map #2 Below)

if you are coming from north of campus, turn south from University Avenue onto Gayle Lemerand (formerly North-South) drive. Drive through the intersection of Stadium Road. The first left past the intersection of Stadium Road is the entrance to the rear of Weil Hall.
if you are coming from south of campus, turn north from SW Archer Road onto Gayle Lemerand (formerly North-South) drive. Drive through the intersection of Museum Road, and follow the bend in the road. The last right before the intersection of Stadium Road is the entrance to the rear of Weil Hall.

Parking (See Map #2 Below)

Recommended: the O'Connell Center parking lot

Handicapped Parking: Adjacent to south side of building. Then go around corner to west side handicapped entrance.

Loading Area: If you have lots of stuff to bring in, try going in through the rear loading area on the south side of building. Parking, however, is not permitted in the loading area.
