Fla Gym Houses College of
Health & Human Performance
(Click for picture)Florida Gym was renovated during the middle 1990's. The Florida Gym houses the University of Florida's College of Health and Human Performance, the old gym facilities, new classrooms, and six, modern, multimedia lecture halls (seating just over one hundred each). These new lecture halls were originally part of the old bleacher sections of the gym. (The gym still remains.) Computers, slide projectors, and video machines display their sights and sounds on a large screen at the front and though speakers around the room. The computers are also directly tied into the Internet so the World Wide Web can be brought directly into the lecture halls! (See directions and map below.) The Department of Astronomy uses one of the six lecture halls (Room 280) to teach sections of its basic astronomy course, AST 1002: Discovering the Universe.

Important Note: Parking for Florida Gym
Several small parking lots surround Florida Gym. These include some spaces for handicapped parking. These lots are often filled on weekday evenings when classes are in session.
(Handicapped parking spaces near the Gym are normally not be filled.)Closest available, visitor parking will probably be the O'Connell Parking Lot west of the Stadium (see map). Visitors should arrive early in order to find suitable parking. Allow about ten minutes to walk to Florida Gym if you park in the O'Connell Parking Lot. If coming from O'Connell Parking Lot, walk around northeast side of stadium, down the steps, and climb steps at Northwest corner of Florida Gym to second floor (see map).
